Near Viewing Aids
- The clinic carries a collection of hand held and stand magnifiers. Our collection of hand held and stand magnifiers start at 3.5X magnification and most have LED bulbs to offer super illumination
- We carry lower powered non illuminated dome magnifiers which are ideal for early stages of vision loss or for school aged children needing only slight magnification
- The reason most over the counter store purchased magnifiers don't work for people who live with vision loss is that they do not have enough magnification. Most store bought magnifiers vary in magnification between 1.5X and 3
Distance Viewing
- Living with vision loss often means no longer being able to see the TV, live theatre and sporting events and especially seeing the faces of loved ones or friends. There are distance solutions that may help you see all of these again including:
- Bioptic telescopic and binocular vision aids
- Ocutech Sightscope clip can be mounted onto the users own glasses and can be easily clipped on and off when needed
- Headborne Beecher binoculars available in multiple magnifications
- Hand held portable monocular telescopes ideal for quick spotting especially with navigation
- Hand held binoculars
- Bioptic telescopic and binocular vision aids
Glare Control
Many people with vision related conditions experience glare, both indoor and outdoor glare. Various glare filters will be shown to determine if specialized tints that help improve contrast and decrease glare can be of benefit. Filters may include:
* Specialized photochromatic CORNING lenses that darken outdoors and have a glare tinted filter indoors
* NEW blue blocking lens filters which have minimal or no tint AND still have a capability of filtering blue wavelengths of light that cause significant amount of glare especially if looking at computer monitors, iPads/tablets, and smartphone devices
